“First Line of Defense Against Elder Abuse”

Social Workers and Health Care Professionals

(Core Education credits applied & pending for Social Workers/ Attendance Credits for other Healthcare professionals)

 

This seminar will benefit all mandated reporters of Elder Abuse in identifying five types of abuse and what the reporting requirements and agencies involved do to address these issues.  Each agency will present their role and demonstrate how the community works together to resolve cases and improve awareness of elder abuse. Panelist of Law Enforcement, Regulatory Agencies and Prosecutors will address:

 

  • Identifying the types of abuse
  • What the reporting requirements are
  • Panelists will present their roles; demonstrate how the entities and community work together to resolve Elder Abuse cases
  • Communication, education and a call to action – the key components to improving awareness and reporting of Elder Abuse.

Objective:  The participant will be able to identify five areas of frequent elder abuse, agencies involved in coordinating elder abuse investigations and how they work together. The participant will be able to identify who are mandated reported, what and when to report elder abuse.
