Description

The Victoria Home invites you to join them for a complimentary holiday 2.0 continuing education workshop on: MINDFULNESS AND STRESS REDUCTION

4:30 - 5:30 Registration, Dinner and Networking
5:30 - 7:30 Presentation

Mindfulness is the philosophy and practice of being focused and in the moment. It is sometimes defined as "The Art of Being Fully Present". When using mindfulness as a therapeutic tool, clinicians are able to help their clients tame distracting and distorting thoughts, and to focus in on the immediacy of the moment.

Mindfulness therapy has been validated through medical and psychological studies as having a positive effect on stress reduction and enhancing coping skills when dealing with medical illnesses, pain management, addiction issues, and day to day life stressors.

Participants in this introductory / intermediate level workshop will:

* Learn the basics of a therapeutic mindfulness approach

* Understand how to evaluate stress

* Recognize the physical / emotional reactions to stress

* Practice how to integrate a multi-dimensional mindful approach with clients to find an effective way of reducing and managing negative reactions to stressful situations.

Self-assessment tools and mindful exercises will be used to expand participants' level of understanding and experiential awareness of techniques.
