Counselor needed for full-time, temporary position in Mercer County. 

Provide direct psychological services to graduate and undergraduate students on the Princeton and Lawrenceville campuses including individual/group/couples counseling; crisis assessment and intervention; professional consultation to faculty, staff and students; developing and conducting outreach programs for campus community; and providing supervision to counseling trainees.

Empowering students to cope with stresses encountered academically, socially and personally promotes student retention and successful completion of academic programs, along with financial and professional benefits for the University.

Meet with students for short-term psychotherapy (or longer if academic success is at risk). Schedule follow-up sessions as needed. Evaluate therapeutic progress during the course of treatment. Assess current mental and emotional status of student. Crisis interventions for students needing emergency services. Provide appropriate treatment interventions to stabilize the student. Offer appropriate referrals. Provide on-call services after Counseling Center hours. Follow established emergency/crisis protocols.

Collaborate with other department professionals to provide comprehensive services to students. Serve on established committees designed to assess students. Offer input based on psychological expertise. Recommend reasonable courses of actions to committee members.

NJ LSW with 3-5 years of experience providing clinical mental health counseling, preferably in a counseling center or agency setting. Experience with a variety of mental health issues, psychiatric disorders, and adjustment disorders. Ability to provide individual, group and couples therapy. Skill in assessment, case conceptualization and treatment planning. Ability to develop and implement outreach and community programming. Knowledge of student development and sensitivity to student diversity. Excellent interpersonal, communication, administrative and organizational skills. Computer literacy. The completion of a satisfactory background check is required.
