Family Support Manager provides case management, support and expertise through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation/referral and overall evaluation of individual family needs. All other duties are as assigned.


    • Conduct intake interviews and screen prospective families to ensure they meet setting acceptance criteria.
    • Maintain relationships and collaborate with social service agencies, landlords, and employers.
    • Orient families on setting operation. Ensure compliance with rules for use of Resource Center and behavior at Host Congregation locations.
    • Develop rapport and create a comfortable, trusting relationship with all members of the family.
    • Develop individual family goal plans with the goal of securing permanent housing and employment. Identify tasks that will help the family reach their goals and empower them to succeed.
    • Assist families with social service needs, referring to the proper agencies, and advocating with agencies as required.
    • Act as a resource for agencies seeking referral information on current or former families.
    • Develop, schedule, and conduct training for families as needed. Refer families to training provided by other agencies.
    • Meet with families as necessary, but no less than two times per week, to monitor progress and provide case management.
    • Maintain confidential records of families’ needs and progress. Document all family contact in FP Force.
    • Review families’ progress weekly with Executive Director.
    • Report on family statistics as requested.
    • Counsel families as they exit the program.
    • Meet with families in the Graduate Support Services Program as scheduled. Provide needed support so that family remains employed and housed.
    • Share in the operational tasks of the Resource Center with other employees and volunteers.
    • Participate in all staff activities, including staff meetings, training sessions, meetings with Host & Support Congregation Volunteer Coordinators, and special events.

Represent setting at meetings and events when requested.

BSW and Three (3) years of experience working with clients. One (1) year of experience working with those experiencing homelessness or other non-profit organization is preferred. Knowledge of local government and social service programs.  Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish is required. The Family Support Manager should be enthusiastic and passionate about helping families experiencing homelessness. The Family Support Manager must have a driving record that shows no DUIs, and no accidents or moving violations in the past three (3) years.

The Family Support Manager must relate well to people from diverse backgrounds and be sensitive to the issues related to family homelessness. In addition, the Family Support Manager must demonstrate a commitment to protecting family confidentiality. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to develop rapport and create a comfortable, trusting relationship with all members of the families. Good planning and organization skills with ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.  Effective time management skills with ability to be flexible. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people. Proven counseling skills. Ability to work effectively with people in a social service environment.  Commitment to the highest standards of ethical conduct and confidentiality.

The Family Support Manager is expected to work a minimum 40-hour week. After-hours and on weekends, the Family Support Manager will be on call as scheduled.
