Presenter: Tunisia Buise, LMSW

As a certified presenter and social worker, Tunisia brings enthusiasm and passion to her presentations and her clinical skills are a contributing factor in the way that she delivers her message. She is dedicated to strengthening the whole person, specifically for youth and young adults.

Tunisia currently works for The Children’s Guild as a Family Life Educator in the Treatment Foster Care program. In this role she works with foster youth and treatment parents to develop best practices in regulating emotions and managing behavior based on traumatic experiences. Tunisia has co-created a girls group to address concerns of hygiene, self-esteem, and appropriate coping strategies. She has also collaborated with My Sister’s Place, a resource center for homeless women and children, to provide a service opportunity for foster families to serve food to center guests. During the academic school year, Tunisia is a field instructor and supervises a MSW student intern. In this position, Tunisia is able to guide a future social worker as they prepare to enter the profession. In 2018 Tunisia’s diligence and work ethic were recognized with an Eagle Eye Award from The Children’s Guild.

In addition to her role at the Guild, Tunisia is a mental health therapist with New Vision Behavioral Health where she works with an array of clients, both children and adults, with various mental health diagnoses. Tunisia believes that clients have the innate ability to resolve their own concerns and that her role is to provide the resources and techniques to assist them.

Tunisia was born and raised on the east side of Baltimore City and attended Baltimore City Public Schools. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clark Atlanta University. Tunisia’s first career choice was to become a family attorney and after college, she worked for 6 years for a Judge in Baltimore City Circuit Court. Through this experience, Tunisia discovered that her interests best aligned with the social work practice. Tunisia holds a Masters of Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore. Tunisia is active in her church and serves on the Welcome Team and Youth of Purpose.
