Cynthia E. Hanifin, MSW (she/her) is a clinical social worker and community arts organizer. She holds a Master of Social Work from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University.
Cynthia’s professional social work experience includes individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, advocacy, healthcare, expressive arts therapy, and arts organizing. She also is the producer and founder of Zine Club Chicago, a free event series focused on cultivating community through creative expression. As a Chicago native, Cynthia is excited to support the social work community.

1st Annual Conference on Children’s Mental Health
Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center will host Nurturing Resilience Through Hope & Healing - 1st Annual Conference on Children’s Mental Health on Sept. 9-10, 2025 at the Conviser Law Center in the West Loop. This two-day conference is designed for mental health professionals dedicated to supporting children and families impacted by trauma, including child sexual abuse. The event will bring together leading voices in the field and provide hands-on tools and knowledge to strengthen trauma-informed care in real-world settings. Featuring keynote speakers Jane Silovsky, PhD, and Kelly Kinnish, PhD, along with 90-minute breakout sessions led by mental health professionals including social workers, the conference offers the opportunity to earn CEUs while deepening your impact on the lives of children and families.

Illinois LSWs No Longer Require ASWB Exam
Under new changes, Illinois Licensed Social Workers (LSW) no longer require a licensing exam, new applicants are no longer required to complete ASWB's Masters exam prior to licensure and LSW licenses will be issued to those having applied to IDFPR with all other requirements met. The Lifeline and 988 - National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022.

Our group clinical supervision meets the requirements of the Illinois Departments of Professional Regulation for persons seeking licensure as Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and if you have a BSW, as Social Workers (LSW).
