Description

A 3 hours continuing education training workshop and dinner for Social Workers, Case Managers, and other community professionals who deal with hoarding situations.

Hoarding Disorder is a complex mental health condition recognized as a distinct psychiatric disorder. Individuals with this disorder have a pathological attachment to their possessions, which is often more important to them than human relationships.

This introductory / intermediate level workshop will help participants explore the distinctions between clutter, chronic disorganization and hoarding, along with treatment and intervention strategies. Key assessment tools and harm reduction material will be distributed and reviewed to enhance intervention effectiveness in situations of self-neglect, chronic disorganization and hoarding. Experiential Case vignettes will be discussed to expand understanding. Therapeutic clinical modalities will also be touched upon.
